Baby buys: the change bag to end all change bags

For the past eleven weeks I’ve got by without a baby change bag. The world hasn’t ended and I’ve survived using the rucksack I used as a hospital bag when I went into labour. It’s not ideal though. You see, I’m a sucker for a pretty bag and using a rucksack as a change bag is a wasted opportunity to indulge in the bag love as far as I’m concerned. Plus, scrabbling around in a rucksack for a babywipe is no fun when you’re trying to prevent a nappy-related emergency.

Step in BabyBeau and the Ellie Tan. Specialising in beautiful bags that just happen to be baby change bags, this is the choice for a bag lover who doesn’t want to go down the floral “baby baby” route. This is a bag that could be used long past the days when you need to fill it with nappies.

On the outside, the Ellie Tan is sleek, stylish and goes with pretty much anything. Whether it’s jeans and trainers with a big coat or a cute dress and heels (not that I have much occasion to wear those at the moment), this bag wouldn’t look out of place.

On the inside the bag is stunning with a silk lining in fresh monochrome. The lining is removable, attaching with poppers so you can discard it once you’re done using the bag as a changing bag. The lining is home to handy pockets that house cute baby accessories in matching monochrome and tan – a bottle holder, change mat and purse.

Although I’m not using the pram much at the moment (the sling is proving far more convenient these days), it’s nice to know that the bag works just as well on the end of a buggy as on my shoulder. It comes with a detachable strap which gives you another way to wear the bag, as well as giving the bag a different look.

In the four and a half years since I’ve been a mum I’ve owned precisely four change bags. This is definitely my favourite so far. I think my quest for the perfect baby change bag may have ended. This one can stay.
