Last summer when I was on holiday I had a message on Instagram from a blogging pal. Although I’d never met Lottie, I’d done an editing job for her earlier that year and had interviewed her for a couple of interiors features. We moved in similar online circles and were interested in lots of the same things – plus Lottie lives in my former home of Bristol which meant I always “liked” her Instagram photos reminding me of my mother land.
Anyway, cut a long story short and a month or so later I was sitting opposite Lottie, in a cafe in Bristol, discussing an idea for a brand new podcast around body image. That first chat was the day that the Body Cons podcast was born, around six months ago.
Since then we’ve travelled all over, interviewing experts on various subjects around the theme of body image. From artists to activists, influencers to academics, we’ve got a diverse line-up of guests for season one and it’s exciting to finally share what we’ve been up to with the wider world.
There is nothing like this podcast around at the moment and it feels like a great time to be having these conversations. Over the past year or so I’ve had so many messages online from all sorts of different people sharing their own thoughts on a deeply personal topic, so it’s lovely to be able to bring some of these discussions out into the open.
We’ll be taking an accessible, sometimes lighthearted approach to some quite serious subjects, as well as looking at current things in the news, on the telly and online around the subject of body image each week.
Episode one launches next Monday (11th March), kicking off with a fantastic guest, and it’s available whereever you get your podcasts from. Or you can find us on iTunes here and subscribe.
I feel like a proud mum today – I hope you like it!
