Sometimes, the week drags on. When the sun isn’t shining and the toddler isn’t happy, the day can feel like it stretches on forever. When I’m slumping in a heap of exhaustion, so tired it feels like I’m wading through treacle, the little things are all I need to keep going.
I’m not talking about a snotty kiss from my two year old, or a loving message from my husband (although they’re nice too), I’m talking about the other things. The tiny things that I won’t remember when I’m old. The inconsequential things that make my days a bit brighter if I’m struggling.
Spring shoots, bringing the promise of summer…
Finding the last Madeleine Cake at the bottom of the tin…
A cup of Earl Grey out of my snazzy new mug…
The last slice of Christmas cake…
Dreaming of upcycling ideas for a cute new furniture project…
Finding a note (complete with kisses from a friendly postman!) saying there’s a parcel waiting at the Post Office for me…
A spare half hour losing myself in a spot of knitting…
And, when all else fails, a delicious glass of red on a Saturday night…
These are the things brightening up my life at the moment. What are yours?

Gosh your postman is over familiar.
Listening to my son read. Hot chocolate in a cafe watching the world go by. Crossing bridges.

Those are lovely things. And yes, he’s very friendly. Still yet to meet him though!

Awesome postman! And a lovely set of little things – I am so with you on taking time to appreciate them. Right now I absolutely live for our half hour of coffee in bed every Saturday morning. Best half hour of the week xx

Getting to keep my PJs & Slippers on ALL DAY, finding a new magazine that hasn’t been read because it’s been buried under a pile fluffy net since it arrived, seeing the Old Man with the 4 miniature Dachshunds & 5 Pugs (all on one lead) pottering past my House whilst attempting to stop them barking at anything that moves……. these are the things that make me happy……

So lovely, what a sweet Postman you have and I wish I could knit more than long ties ‘slash’ scarves hehe! ….Inventing stories for my little boy who listens and questions in wonder, like Gemma, bridges, I actually have favourite ones from living in London and of course our short time in Bristol, sweetpeas, an open fire, my baby’s smell, his laughter, my Dad’s tight hugs, my mother’s sound advice (she’s always right), my husband’s love….rose lipbalm, freshly made popcorn and picking apples from our tree.

Finding cake always makes everything better again I think!y fave things are cuddles in bed, a walk to the park, feeding the ducks, a hot cup of tea, sitting on the sofa, about 9pm when I finally sit down.
