Commissioned post
By the time this year is out, we’ll have attended five weddings. Five whole weddings.
Because I don’t much get the opportunity to dress up these days (being a parent can do that) one of the things I love most about a wedding is the opportunity to put on something pretty.
With the dress or smart trousers, come the heels. And that’s where I get myself into all sorts of trouble. You know those women you see tottering down the road like Tina Turner, pretending their feet don’t hurt in heels, when actually it’s obvious they’re in LOADS of pain? Yep, that’s me.
The last wedding we went to I was in so much discomfort due to my (terribly beautiful) shoes, I had to lean on my husband as he walked me into the church. I can only imagine people thought I was experiencing so much emotional turmoil at the impending nuptials that I couldn’t stand up unaided. Not the look I was hoping for.
That’s where my search for wedges comes in. I have come to realise that the wedge may be my perfect wedding shoe. With a husband who is a whole foot taller than me, flats are out of the question (all photos would only show my forehead and his chin), so I think a wedge is a nice compromise.
My hunt has taken me to Lotus Shoes where I’ve found a whole selection of wedges to satisfy my wedge cravings.
They’ve got your classic black wedge to go with pretty much any outfit. Or, if you’re feeling more extravagant, how about a more colourful number?
My personal favourites though, are the “Catherine Cranberry”. I love the colour but, most of all, I love the fact they look comfortable enough to dance in until the small hours.
These are from the Lotus Sandals section, priced at £59.99. What do you think? The perfect shoes for a wedding?!
You’re welcome.
