Back in August I wrote about the noises and songs that make Baby Girl crease with laughter. It’s funny how quickly things can change with toddlers and now, a couple of months on, we’ve got a few more things to add to the list.
Baby Girl has only recently started showing an interest in sitting for longer than twenty seconds to listen to a story or watch a TV show. She’s developing a big toddler crush on Peppa Pig and her favourite book of the moment is Julia Donaldson’s The Snail and the Whale, to which she likes to sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” at every mention of “stars” in the book (there are many).
We’re also adding the new #SoundofHappy Song to the list, as created by the C&G Babyclub working with 1,000 mums and dads from across the UK. This is the world’s first song made from sounds and melodies that are known to make babies giggle – and it’s been tested on 56 infants who all gave it the thumbs up.
The song, put together by a team of psychologists, parents, babies, and a singer-songwriter, might just be the answer to keeping the dreaded baby witching hour blues at bay. It’s fascinating to see the science behind the song and the process of research that went into making it – you can see for yourself here:
The best thing about this song? It’s available to download and stream too, meaning you can keep it on your phone ready to whip out at a moment’s notice (or tantrum). Just be aware, you may have a battle on your hands to get your phone back once your tot realises there’s such a fun song on there.
Tell me, what sounds would make your little one’s Sounds of Happy list?
