Despite being a mother, you may be surprised to learn there’s a certain experience I have yet to try. Or that was the case until Wednesday this week.

I will never forget the day of my first time.

It was a special moment. When the time came, I knew it was right.I couldn’t put it off a moment longer. All my friends had tried it. I was feeling left out, but I didn’t want to crumble to peer pressure. Luckily, I didn’t have to. My body felt ready. I felt ready. It was time to do it.

I was prepared for it to hurt. I braced myself to feel – at the very least – rather uncomfortable. I had heard it could get messy.

But it didn’t. I felt nothing but pure pleasure. Each second of that special first time was one to savour.

In fact, I enjoyed it so much, I took some photographs.

Want to see my first time?

Here you are the…

I used the no cook recipe for playdough on The Imagination Tree. It took me literally 5 minutes. (The same can’t be said of the length of time it took the husband to source cream of tartar in Sainsburys, but that’s another story.)

Frog was desperately excited. She’s only ever played with the shop bought stuff. This had a far less plastic smell as I added a sprinkle of cinnamon and a dash of vanilla essence, although that didn’t help when I tried to explain it wasn’t for eating.

She kneaded it. She sniffed it. She pretended to make “appy buffdee cakes” with it. She drew round it. She made pumpkins out of it.

I added glitter pieces in the shapes of stars and teddies – these also went down rather well.

Afterwards I was left with the warm glow of satisfaction at a job well done. No regrets. Just an impatience to try it again.

I am no longer a playdough virgin.
